Solnhofener

Solnhofener is a unique limestone tile characterized by a warm golden color palette with small dendrites across the face of the material. The stone is formed into plates and dendrites were created over time as minerals leached between the plates. Fossils of fish and other sea life are occasionally seen in some tiles. Solnhofener was originally used as printing plates for lithographic printing in the 19th century and as the industry collasped, the stone was used as a tile.
